Doesn't really look like a Red Sex-Link to me, since I don't see any white tail feathers. Probably a production red or other New Hampshire Red mix.

I got her in an ornamental layer assortment from McMurray. I had two of them and even as day-old chicks they were bigger than all the others. Is Sex Link a breed? I guess I'm pretty ignorant about breeds of chickens.

Me too! Im a newbie to chickens! Ive been calling mine red cross's because that is what I was told they were from the feed store I got them from. However, I havent seen anyone here call them that lol. Your bird is very pretty. :)

I saw an article about best chickens for Australia -- I have a friend who lives in Melbourne and it is super chicken (they call them "chooks")every family is allowed 10 hens. Anyway, from this article I read, now I think my hen is an Orpington. She looks exactly like the picture here. /ourlittlefarms.blogspot.com/2011/04/chicken-breeds-common-in-australia.html>
