Humidifier pads

I am having problems getting the humidity where I want it in a DIY incubator. I have tried various types of sponges and they don't do what I want. Do you know if the humidity pads sold for home humidifiers do a better job of adding water to the air? If so, which ones are the best? Any other ideas or secrets, and what works for you? TNX
