Humidity and how to control it?

I was just wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to control your humidity in a forced air incubator
In which way? Are you looking for ways to higher it, lower it, or how to make it work for your eggs? I use this method for controlling/adjusting it so that my eggs are getting what they need: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity

If you are looking for ways to higher/lower it, that's done by adjusting the surface area of the water. If you need a lower humidity you can try running dry or decreasing the surface area of the water. I run dry when I can and if that's too low I use just a wet sponge in the bator to hold it at 30%ish where I like it. At lockdown when I need a higher humidity I increase my surface area of water by filling all the wells, plus a little bowl that I have under my screen and on top of that I add a couple wet sponges above my screen.

Really depends on the type of incubator. Some have troughs in the bottom others have a container in the side or center where you add water. Some set ups can add an auto humidity pump as well. You can also used wet sponges. Humidity is based on the surface area of water rather than the depth. If you need to raise humidity you need a larger surface area. Decreasing humidity is usually more of a challenge. With any luck you can run dry if your humidity is too high. But if you are running dry and humidity is still too high then you can try adding things like dry rice or popcorn or the silicon packs that comes in clothes or shoe boxes.

Using a hygrometer will give you a starting point for monitoring humidity but you should still monitor your air cells. If they are too small then decrease your humidity and if they are too large increase your humidity. There are several diagrams that will show you where air cells should be at various points during incubation. The level of humidity that you run at will depend in some part as to what you are hatching.

Hope this is what you were looking for. Let us know if you have any other questions.
