What should the lockdown humidity level be? I have the Hovabator 1588 which seems to be pretty self running but I need to double check what I *think* is right.

Thanks...

(8 eggs out of 16 shipped made it to lockdown)

My first hatch I kept it around 65% but I raised that up to about 70-75% for the next hatches. Keep in mind that I don't know how accurate my thermometer/hygrometer is but I know that my first hatch was too dry because a couple of chicks were shrink wrapped and I haven't had that problem since I raised the humidity up by 5-10%. After I'm done with hatching I am going to calibrate it to see how accurate it was. Good luck with your hatch

Mine seems to be hanging out around 72%.

65%... sticky with membrane/ chick juice

... whatever you want to call it.

Is it because the chick doesn't dry as fast after it's hatched due to the higher humidity?

Or because not enough liquid evaporated right before the hatch?

My humidity is staying at 70% in the Hovabator 1588.
