I’m incubating silkie eggs and I need help regulating the humidity in my incubator. It keeps hovering between 57% and 65%. What is the ideal percentage for humidity and temperature please! And if it needs to be lower, how can I make it lower?? I’ve drained all the water in there as well.

Do you have a good calibrated thermometer and hygrometer to double check your incubator? Days 1 through 17 I keep my humidity between 40 and 50%, I try to get it around 60 for hatching.

Yes. I’ve got three thermometer plus the original one it comes with in there. All say relatively the same thing. How can I lower the humidity at this point?

You'll need to decrease the surface area of the water. But you said you removed the water?

What incubator are you using?

My humidity won’t go down either got a new incubator watched a video it said they put extra holes in lid so did that still not no difference next to no water in as I’ve reduced staying around 69/70 x

I've only hatched a few batches of eggs in incubator, so not a lot of experience that way (got a batch in there now 🤞). I never really was concerned with humidity & just made sure it didn't go below 40% up until lockdown & then kept it about 70%. I have had hens hatch dozens of broods outside where humidity usually runs between 60-80% 24-7 and they always have good hatches. But incubator hatching is artificially trying to create the best environment possible, so I'm sure little changes can have big effects on outcome.
