I can't get my humidity down!!! ~ I don't have eggs in yet, and there isn't any water in the bator ~ but I still have humidity readings in the 60's & 70's.

I'm using a genesis 1588...

close vent/ open vent

Any ideas?!?

Open the vents and let it run a little while. The heat will help lower the humidity as long as there's no extra water in there.

Yep, open those vents and it will come down. Then run for awhile and adjust as needed to get set where you want to be. It takes a little practice. I live in Arkansas and the humidity has been way up.

Thanks guys, that was the approach I was taking. It just isn't coming down very fast. I'm still stuck in the 70's

Same problem here.. I'm on day 18-19.. most of the incubation period the humidity was reading 62-65%... It's up to 69% now.. just a coincidence since we got so much rain..
I'll let you know how the hatch goes.. I have 18 in there. Candled one of the five eggs I took from the fridge and I could actually see movement of the beak or toes! I only candled a few.. was having trouble seeing in the others out of the fridge, except one I'm pretty sure didn't develop.

My humidity ran 65-75% on last hatch and I hatched 16 out of 16 Cuckoo Marans. I plan on running that same humidity level on the batch I have in the bator now.

My hatch didn't go so well... I had 7 chicks out of 18 eggs... (2 chicks have since died). They all developed close to hatching. I'm not sure if the problem was the humidity or the trouble I was having accurately checking the temperature (still air LG). I haven't decided whether I want to try again or just give it a rest.
