Humidity Question

I live in southeastern North Carolina where the humidity is HIGH. I just put mallard duck eggs in the incubator and the humidity has already gone to 61%. How do I get it back down?

im sorry that no one has stepped in to give you advice but the true fact is high humidity is real hard to deal with. You can either drop the humidity in the house using a de-humidifier or you can try some of the other options like adding a bowl of rice or baking soda.

I think I will try the rice. Exactly what do I do with it?

The incubator has no water in it and the humidity is still high so adding rice which absorbs moisture can dry the air out a little and its egg safe.

Now the rice will need to be changed during the incubation period so any way you can do this with out making a large mess that would take a while to clean up would work. Ive heard of people using old stockings as bags to keep the rice out of the way and easy to remove.

To be honest ive never tried it as I run a/c in the house so my humidity is lower due to that but I have read other people posts as I live in florida and one day may wish to incubate in the shed which is very humid.
