Uhg. I’m feeling frustrated. So I’m hatching my first eggs ever. I calibrated my incubator before I started and let it run for several days with a hydrometer in it. Everything stayed level and it all was fine so I began the process. On day 18 I checked and my humidity was at 63% and slowly rising as I was told to up it to 70%. I noticed a couple hours later it was at 32% on my incubator. HOWEVER, when I had taken the eggs out of the egg turner, I had forgot to put the hydrometer back in so I could only I assume it was correct since it had been the same with the hydrometer the entire 18 days. So I added some water. I had to add a surprising amount to get it to only move to just 35% but then I had to leave. So I put the hydrometer back in and went to a family dinner. About 5 hours later, I came home and my hydrometer was reading 87% and the top viewing window was all fogged up. I know the incubator is supposed to be on lockdown and I’m panicked that I had to open it to put the hydrometer in it and then I opened it to get some water out and dry off the window AND that the humidity was so high for so long. It’s been about an hour now and the humidity is down to 75% and I’m monitoring it to try and get it right around 70% but I’m worried that humidity may have been too high for too long? Thoughts?
