I am going into "lockdown" mode this Saturday and the humidity is hovering around 70-73%. Is this the correct humidity level for now and during the "lockdown" period? I don't want my hatch to be shrink wrapped or the chicks to drown. Please help...thanks

I had mine around 60% - 70% for lockdown, all hatched just fine. The humidity will rise as they are hatching due to the additional moisture the chicks add.

Thank you Daidohead. What is the max humidity that I can have without harming them?

I vented mine when it went over 80%. My chicks were damp, but not wet, and the membrane in the egg was not to tough for them to get through. I do not know at what high % level harm is done. I would be worried if it dropped below 50% for any length of time during a hatch. The chicks cant move in the egg if it gets too dry.

Cool, thank you. I will keep mine around around 70-80% humidity. I am so excited to see my hatching results.

I kept mine about 65-75 and also had a good hatch rate, 9 out of 10 that had developed. I also vented my lid if it got about 75, but I only saw that when there were 4 new chicks in there at the same time.
