Has anyone with a 1502 sportsman added a sponge the last 3 days before hatch to increase humidity with other eggs still in turners above. How does increased humidity effect the eggs that are not hatching. Is it ok if after the three or four day hatch i remove the wick and drop humuty back to normal. Just worried about high humidity for three or four days on eggs still a week or two from hatching.
thanks

I don't have first hand experience with this type of bator, but have to surmise that the humidity in the entire bator would change and thus affect the other eggs. I ran into this problem about a year ago when I was doing quail and chickens at the same time and forgot to start the chickens 4 days earlier. I ended up leaving my humidity at the regular level until I saw the first pip, then quickly raised it until the hatch was done, and then ran completely dry for a couple of days, watching my air cells on the remaining eggs. It was not an ideal situation but the hatch rate turned out okay.
