Meet PAT! He/she is the only "assorted, straight-run" we purchased for our flock! He/she is very gentle and loving, certainly the lowest in pecking order (sad face from me, last to eat, last to find a roosting spot at night, generally AVOIDS the rest of our flock, at all times!)! Yesterday we heard the strangest noises coming from Pat? New and very different! Our flock is roughly 15 weeks old... Could the sound have been "crowing" or the early practicing of the "egg song"??? Either way, I wonder is this Patricia or Patrick, and honestly what breed is it? He/she is super pretty and my favorite!!!

I certainly don't know because the closest chicken I have ever had to that color was a Cochin. Where did you get her/him from? Looks rather like a pullet to me....

I got it at Murdoch's... And I almost think its a Bantam, it's smaller in size than my other chicks, but "developed" faster than the others?? Strange

It looks like a pullet to me. I think it could be the egg song, but it could maybe be a distress noise. Is there any way you could record it and show us?

That looks like a pullet to me. You said it was 15 weeks, and I have heard that pullets combs begin to turn red around that age. The tail is very small and I don't see any of the rooster hackle feathers, so I am thinking pullet. I could be wrong though.

Like chippysmom suggested, are you able to record the noise that the chicken is making?

Naturally, I can't get her to do it again!!! Grrrr... I'll keep trying, BUT I still wonder, what is she?? Haha
