But, after I let out my Breeder SQ DH runners that are now 2 yr old. I see The grey drake going after the Penciled drake......geez !

They were raised together, lived together the first year, just separated them this winter in runs and night pen right next to each other. I had noticed my Gray drake fussing at the mini-duck pen which is next to his fence.(like "King of the Hill") occasional sniping I'd call it. I'd been collecting eggs to set, so they were only in day yards with no grassy area.(separate & next to each other).Never noticed any attacking thru fence .etc. So today I decide they can come out together and freerange the fenced yard. and

they are pushing at each other like skinny Sumo wrestlers!!!! I hightail it up there and put the penciled back in the day yard and just let the greys out (with the geese)---Guess it is still breeding season in their eyes.

So I will alternate days out I guess and maybe later,I can try again. I have noticed the greys seem more Assertive, and the Penciled are sort of wimps or nerds......Seems to fall in that catagory lots of animals with wilder coloring tend to be more assertive or have more intact instincts... (like the Russian Fox breeding for docility and how it was connected with color variation....)

my GREY drake call is also my ornery one this spring... Its my first spring and first with ducks , and although we know he's the King in the pecking order, hes been going after my other drake (dominace thing) on occation. THe other day both drakes were chasing my littlest girl.. it was horrible... I grabbed her , scolded them and after a few minutes put her back down and they started again... I let it go as I supervised to see what they were trying to do and after a couple minutes grabbed her again , scolded the boys , put them in the pen with me as I was cleaning , left the girls out playing in the hose and they could watch and boy they were torked.... after about 20 min I told them they better behave and let them out and all is fine... all of mine are together tho 24/7. they do have their pecking order and tiffs and I will watch and try to let be when I see something I dont like cuz if I can let it be its usually over and back to normal.. with yours im guessing just re-establishing pecking order - I would let them do what they have to do (SUPERVISED) and if thats all it is , then u will beable to let them all out together... I just wish they could do it in a much NICER way.....it soooo stresses me out...
Funny tho.. my grey drake luvs me the most of my ducks.. hes Always friendly towards me, greets me, follows me all around , sits on my lap, lets me pet him.

Well, it is still breeding season, my gandars went at it earlier this season, after living together for 2 years, so I gave them and their wives their own night pens. They are ok now to freerange together in daytime, just have to give them enough space to get away i guess, but the fighting stopped.
But with the drakes, they are form Holderreads show quality breedings and very nice and I may try to show,so I don't want them injuring each other.... I think they are just getting more mature.....and acting like it:smack, hopefully in a month or so they will not be so Hissy
