Any help appreciated!!!
This is our first experience with a mysterious chicken illness. A couple of weeks ago a dog killed one of my chickens in the yard while free ranging. The next day I found 2 dead in the coop that I assumed were also victims of the dog attack but had made it inside to die. Then I discovered another one in the leaves that I also assumed got missed and was part of this dog attack. So, all birds have been kept cooped up until this dog is taken care of.
Well, about a week after that I discovered another hen dead - sitting in the nesting box?? That really confused me. Now, I have a bird that started acting funny - walking strange and looking hunched over. Today she didn't come to get feed and just stayed lying.... We picked her up to isolate her from the others and when we put her down she acts as if she can't keep her balance- stumbles all over the place? Any ideas if this one and the one on the nesting box are related? What could it be? She has scaly legs - I've been treating with DE for lice/mites. I'm just wondering if this is something that could spread to the flock? Any help would be appreciated.
