My son is doing a project with chickens and backyard farming for school and will continue with 4-H. We have used this site for lots of information. Our chicks are now five weeks old and we are interested in knowing if all of our chicks purchased as pullets are in fact that. We have two that we are a bit suspicious about. The only clue is the larger comb. One has a comb that is rather larger (but so is she) but it does not stand erect as a suspected cockerel's comb would. But since this is our first experience would anyone mind checking out and giving us an idea? Thanks! This will not let me add pictures, but the picture I chose as my avatar is the speckled sussex, Olive.
Also, if you are interested in checking out his project and what he is doing he is on FB, as Hunter's City Chicken. He is working hard to get over 100 likes.
