So right before the Hurricane brushed past us, the local tractor supply practically gave away all of their chicks. Our ag teacher took all of them, and is now selling them as fundraiser. They were not labeled, and she is not 100% sure what breeds they are. I bought four, but I don’t know what they are. Can you identify them? I think I got 3 hens and 1 rooster, but I am not sure.

How old? You have a red sex link pullet and two black sex link pullets. The black with the most red does seem like a cockerel. What colour are his legs, are they feathered?

Also, they are pullets and cockerels until they are 1 year old. Then they will be hens and roosters.

Wow, gorgeous birds! I love the idea of them being sold for an ag fundraiser, too.

Is that so?! I always thought they were cockerels/pullets until they started crowing/laying. I have prematurely updated some of my birds if I am wrong lol

It is. It’s just something to remember if you ever post about your birds’ health. Some things can be normal for pullets but not for hens.
