I got home last night late from work. My wife said one of the girls was acting funny. When I let the girls out in the morning there was one missing. (I guess my wife did not count when she locked the door.) Soon after I found the lost hen under the coop, it is elevated off the ground.) She was not doing to good. there was some feather loss and she had a hard time standing and moving around. (I am surprised she made it throught the night and coons did not get her.)

What do I do if anything? If she can't walk or get in the coop by herself.

Thanks,

Bryan

I would suggest you place her in a tote with screen over it or pet taxi in the house. Let her warm up, let her guard down and mend. If there are any open areas, clean with soap and water, pat dry.
I'd use Bag Balm (country thing I think) but from what Ive read, do not use anything with Lidocaine in it as it can kill a hen, not sure how much or anything like that.
Giving her an antibiotic may be wise, but if there is nothing there to treat, don't.
What a scare for her and you guys, keeping her warm and encourage her to eat /drink to get over the shock. Good luck!

I kept her in side at night and during the day I but her outside in the row to get a little fresh air and sun. She did not more outside but stayed int he same spot. when I brought her inside she kept trying to fly out. I thought she might want to be outside bc she seemd to be "moving" alittle better.

I inspected her and she is losing a lot of feathers near her butt, but her top her feathers on top seem to be ok. Her but is bear of feathers. How long does it take to grow back feathers.

thanks,

Bryan
