Hello all, I'm kinda new to BYC, this is my first post, I'm having issues with a Delaware chick of mine... She (he?) won't put weight on her left foot. She is about four days old, day one she would use it normally. Somewhere toward the end of day two she started limping and trying to stay off her left foot. She now won't use it at all if she can help it, and hops on her other foot. She holds it out to the side and prefers to sleep not laying on it (she spreads it out to the side). She is eating and drinking but not as much as I'd like. She seems tired, probably from the hoping and pain? It does seem like the leg hurts, she yells if it's bumped.

She is with a few other newborns, fresh water, high protein feed, been giving them eggs too. Their bedding is hay, they have a heat lamp, access to meal worms and other seed.

Thank you for responding. That feed was reassuring in the sense that most of their chickens seem to get better over time/after they stayed off of the leg for a while. Since she was so young during the injury I am worried about it affecting her more negatively. What do people do for slipped tendons?

You can YouTube it, you push the leg back and then roll the tendon back in between the bones.
