Hurt Raven

On my walk this evening I came across a raven on the side of the road. Flapping wings, unable to stand up. I pick up the bird and walked home.

The vet in the village is not in until 9 tomorrow morning.

I placed the bird in a shed with ventilation. A bowl of water with a small bit of shredded wheat.

The underside looked ok bar some poop.

This is pretty much all I can do at the moment?

He might appreciate meat (hamburger or larvae) more than shredded wheat; the corvidae around here are more interested in carrion than they are grains.

Is there a rehab center for wild animals that might take him? I know in the states you aren't supposed to keep any wild animal. (For a raven I'd probably risk it)
When you say it can't stand up are its legs hurt or does it seem uncoordinated like it got hit in the head?

No it's legs are not working. its beyond the initial stun.

sorry, no there is no centre, just our vet. Sometimes he's around but calving has pretty much come to an end.

Hhmmm... is it uncoordinated in other ways? Wings drooping? Head movements seem difficult?
Wonder if it ate something nasty.

no, he looks hit. the way people drive on these country roads...its a wonder that you don't find more hit animals. heads upright, moves well. just can't stand up.

Poor thing. Hopefully the vet will have some answers.
