Hi. I am new here and have a question about our pet turkey.

Yesterday our turkey, Lily, fell off a perch (yes, she thinks she is a chicken!). She has fallen before, but this time she is really hurt. Yesterday she could kind of move around, she ate and drank water. Even laid an egg last night. But, today, she hasn't moved and hasn't eaten or drank as far as I can tell. She is in her pen with access to food and water. Am I going to have to put her down? Or is this maybe fixable? I'm not sure how to tell if it's broken or bruised or strained or what? Has anyone had this happen? I think I already know my answer, but if anyone has something I can do for her, please let me know!

Thanks so much!

have you checked her legs out for possible breaks? did you see her fall how did she hit? Maybe she just needs a few days to recoup and is sore I hope thats all it is..

I would try to give her a little time before you decide to cull her. Keep her warm and calm. She may just be sore. Try to check her like Miss Lydia suggested for anything broken. Try to give her treats you know she may like to eat. Chickens love scrambled eggs and cooked oatmeal. Sorry, not too sure about turkeys. I hope she starts to look better. Some folks on here sometimes give aspirin to their birds who seem to be in pain. Type aspirin dose in the search area and the dose should come up. I have learned from reading on here that birds can be pretty tough and survive some pretty awful things. You will know if she seems to be suffering and you have to put her down. Good luck with her.

Thank you both, I will keep a close eye on her for a couple of days. Her leg is definitely sore. She flinched when you touch her 'elbow' area. Really hoping she can get through this.
Cheers
