Two huskies (owner loosed them) ran into my backyard and killed all of my laying chickens(I have eight chickens). After that, one of huskies tried to jump on my female friend(bloody mouth). She kept dreaming the bodies of those dead chickens and felt super unsafe. She just went to a therapist
I called the police and the police gave the owner a ticket. What can I do with that? I am in Utah.

Look into seeing if they can replace your chickens but you’d have to get a lawyer involved to help you I would think. Or start over and be satisfied they got a ticket for their negligence. Sorry to hear about your laying chickens, I know how devastating it can be to lose a chicken let alone a whole flock.

thank you

Ugh. Unfortunately we can't control what others do- look into the laws in your area as far as livestock lost to someone else's dogs to see what they might be liable for. Other than that- if you're considering replacing your flock - it's time for a serious fence. My favorite chicken protection fence is 6ft chain link with at least the first 4 feet covered with hardware cloth. I also put a net over mine. My only loss is to the neighbor's dog- had ZERO control over that dog- it came over on the hottest day at the hottest time of day and chased my birds around on the outside of my fence- ultimately lost 1 in pretty short order to heart attack and 2 more who I was able to treat for a while but died later, but nobody died a bloody death. I might also suggest an electric perimeter, though with something with a heavy coat like a Husky - unless you get them on the nose, they might not even notice it.

Here's what Oregon law has to say about it - perhaps you can search by your county and/or state laws using similar terms:

https://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/609.140
) The owner of any livestock which has been damaged by being injured, chased, wounded or killed by any dog shall have a cause of action against the owner of such dog for the damages resulting therefrom, including double the value of any livestock killed and double the amount of any damage to the livestock.

I am so very sorry. I would talk to the dog owners and if they aren't going to replace your chickens I would take them to court. I would also set up cameras (security or game) and make a record of the dogs being on my property. If it continues I would take my proof to the local dog warden. If that doesn't work, well I would load them up and take them to a shelter or shoot them. I am a dog lover - I have a 160 lb Leonberger and a 65 lb Australian Shepherd mix. Neither is especially used to poultry but we are working on it and I always have my poultry protected just in case. My neighbors across the street and behind me both have chickens (and have for almost 2 years) and my dogs bark at them, but have NEVER gotten out of my yard. It's MY responsibility to keep control of my dogs. My yard is fully fenced and they are not out unattended. If they did escape (which - we've lived here for almost 12 years and have always had very large, protective dogs and have NEVER had an escape - not a single one, we are extremely careful) I 100% would pay to replace whatever they injured, killed, or damaged.
