Just wondering why there is so much dislike for hybrids compared to heritage breeds? Are heritage breeds just not old hybrids? I mean they had to cross something to get the heritage breeds right?

Farmers only worry during the growing season, but towns people worry all the time.

I think it has a lot to do with people just being tired to death of being told they need everything to be the latest and greatest, including their food and pets! Its called market push back.

Hybrids are great. To get to a new breed you have to work with hybrids. Once you have a purebred, it can become a breed. And 100 years from now, the new breed will be a heritage. That's how it works.

Nothing wrong with a modern hybrid. Also nothing wrong with a bird that meets the APA Standard written for it and has a long heritage.

Are they different? Yes. Hate? Too strong imho. Bird fanciers are passionate about their hobby. Hybrids, of course, won't typically breed "true" and cannot be shown.

Getting a new anything established as a breed, accepted into the APA as a distinct breed, showing 100 examples of them, and getting a Standard written is extremely difficult work. Not for the faint hearted. The APA/ABA are notoriously conservative groups who don't willy nilly accept new varieties or breeds carelessly. Fair enough.
