Hydroponic Food

Hi all

My husband has a greenhouse that he grows tomatoes in a hydroponic environment and yes it is ONLY tomatoes. I just had a fit as I noticed one of my girls found a way in and was not only eating the tomato leaves but she was drinking the water from the tub that feeds the plants i.e. hydroponic food. They are very naughty girls as there are numerous tubs of water around our yard so why get into the greenhouse? Is this water that contains the hydroponic food toxic to my girls and should I be worried?

I don't think an initial sip will kill them, but it will be hard on their kidneys if they continue to imbibe. If he needs to leave the door open for ventilation, I suggest that he install a "screen door of sorts" to keep the girls out. Could even put a spring hinge on it. Jealous of your green house! I have a small one, not heated, and it produces wonderful greens through mid Dec, and starting back up again late Feb.
