Hi there! my name is carlen, and I am probably fairly young to be on here, but during quarantine i’ve been putting a lot of time into our new chickens and ducklings seeing as school is out. I’m going to just answer these questions!
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
my family and i got our chickens about a month and a half ago. my mother grew up around chickens but it has been a while since then so i feel like we’re fairly new!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
we have seven hens and one rooster
(3) What breeds do you have?
thank my brothers for the weird names! our rooster mr fluffernutter is a bantam cochin frizzle (very goofy), we have another bantam cochin flip flop, two black stars boobaloobie and moira, a rhode island red phoebe, a wyandotte buck buck, and two white brahmas big mama and gwyneth fowltrough.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
i love going out to sit with them every night and watching them peck around in the dirt and make funny noises. my mom and i make voices for them and it’s very entertaining.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
i attend high school, so i enjoy doing art, playing tennis, and doing aerial silks.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
i live with my mom and dad, my two older brothers who are twins stop by with their families pretty often. we just got 2 adorable ducklings pippa and poppy who i am obsessed with.
