I’m confused.

Hello!
We picked up a few chicks from the bantam bin at TSC 5 1/2 weeks ago. This one just started crowing and is about 1/2 as big as the others. I thought she looked like a OEGB hen but once she started crowing and I got confused. Don’t cockerels have different coloring? Maybe this belongs in the breed thread... but I know so little I don’t want to assume it’s an oegb. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

That is definitely a cockerel! Such a mighty red comb and wattles for such a young chick!

But we can’t keep a rooster in our neighborhood. He’s so sweet.

You think he’s an oegb? I thought the boys had black feathers.

They come in many different colors. I don't believe there is any gender specific coloring with OEGB. They are not my area of expertise though. Definitely OEGB and most definitely a cockerel. Goodness what a comb for such a young fella.
