I need some guidance here!!! So I wanted to make my chickens their own feed. I feed all flock kalmbach . And I also have scratch from kalmbach.
My confusion is this: the ingredients inside the scratch is almost EXACTLY the same as home made feed. Am I delusional or what is going on ? Any insight would be so welcomed

What home made feed? Is this a coincidence or am I confused too?

Scratch is usually grains, and can be fortified, but is not feed. Kalmbach's says 5 grains. I've seen other brands say 6 grains.

I use Kalmbach's Flock Maker.

For their scratch, I use Kalmbach's Henhouse Reserve (HHR).

The HHR is a layer feed already. When I fed them that, they wasted a ton of it, so when their feeders emptied, I refilled with Kalmbach's Flock Maker. We buy both now, and the HHR is their scratch.

Well if it's economical to make it I say go for it.
So my is geared towards more of : isn’t scratch and home made feed the same thing?? They both have seeds( black sunflower), millet or milo, wheat, oats.. so isn’t that the same darn thing?

Scratch is typically high energy stuff that includes corn. The Feed can be a lot of things really I've never pursued making my own, outside of growing a trays of fodder, but some folks on BYC have.

if they both contain the same thing isn’t the same product aside from all the additives and high processing in the actual feed? My home made feed has the same ingredients as the scratch you and I use plus a couple more grains, so why is there a difference? Why bcz “they” want to make us Believe that feed and scratch are not the same? Bcz if you make your own feed it is literally the same components as SCRATCH.do you get why I am confused?

I just feel like this is just a marketing plow on behalf of the feed companies bcz home made feed and scratch literally have the ingredients aside from the molasses .
