Depending on which brand name of feed you buy it should have the recommended ages listed on the bag.

Thank you I will check the bag I’ve read so many different ages on the net
It really depends on the exact brand you buy.
Some brands sell a starter type feed that they recommend you feed for only the first few weeks, then that brand recommends you move to a grower feed for a while before starting a layer feed.

Some brands don't sell a starter and instead recommend you feed a grower until the first egg is laid or until a certain number of weeks before switching to their layer feed.


So it really depends on which brand name you use.

I just love the silkies I do have to admit I want some more I’m not sure if I got any hens which the white ones but I have told the brown one is a hen she is the sweetest of them all
@AlleysChicks might be able to guess at which sex your birds are.
