Hey, my fiancee and I are getting married July 9th of this year and will be buying a house between now and then. My grandfather grew cornish X's and Leghorns for as long as I can remember, I live too far from him now to get any of his phenomenal stock but I want to make him proud by creating my own. Unlike him, I dont want a use Cornish X's as my meat birds as i dont agree with promoting breeds of animals that are manipulated for a purpose, I want to take advantage of traits while breeding chickens that are considered healthy. I know that I want to have Marans Plymouth Rocks or Leghorns for Eggs. I know that Plymouth Rocks are also considered dual purpose so they make good meat birds. Are there birds that arent Frankenbirds that grow quickly for Meat? I need all the help I can get!!! Please any tips will be well received!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to meet you.

Nope, you won't get a dual purpose bird that grows as fast as your meat bird crosses. I rasised black sex links and processed at 5 months and they dressed out between 2.5 3.5 lbs!!
