I am curious-Is it plausable my barred rock(probably mixed tho)

were fathered by my barred rock roo 10 days PRIOR to seperation from my actual "breeders"? I was expecting black australorp chix and at 2 wks age they OBVIOUSLY had barring on wings SO , and I have other theories, since the eggs i started to save were laid 8-10 days AFTER I removed the barred roo from the equation is it POSSIBLE that his sperm was still active in some hens? and after the hens were seperated from rest of flock/barred rock roo they WERE in with a black australorp roo during this time.

It takes 2-3 weeks before you can bet the new rooster will be the sire and in some rare cases, it's been known to still be there at 4 weeks. You collected a bit too soon.

fascinating-oh well-I learn by screwing up and any pullets will still lay, of course, but for next session I know it can take longer to get everyone in sync. thanks!
