I live in NM, and I have a small flock in a horse paddock that the previous owner had put there. I still live with my parents and although they support me with the chickens, they still want to go on trips, and we cannot to that because of the chickens. I currently have 1 cockerel, 7 pullets, 1 bantam pullet, and 3 chicks. Right now I am contemplating selling my chickens for my parents. (and currently I see more benefits from selling them than keeping them.). I do not know what to do anymore.

We also do not eat all of the eggs so we have about 30 eggs just sitting in our house, and we do not have anywhere to sell them.

Ultimately it seems like your parents know your mature enough to take of animals and are leaving it up to you to do what is best for them. Chickens as all livestock and pets take allot of time invested in them; they're like helpless children who depend on you. I can understand your young with lots of things you should be experiencing and places to visit and enjoy without being tied down to your animals like they're children. So I can understand your dilemma.

Of course like your parents, I won't tell you how to choose but if your having such a difficult time deciding then I believe in your heart you already know the answer. But what ever you do know that if you decide to re-home them as long as you find a good home for them they will be happy. Chickens are creatures of habit and once they get settled they will be fine. And if you decide to re-home them when you've settled down and traveled, gone to college or a steady job and found a routine in your life you can always get some more.

I'll say a prayer that you can make a decision without being to hard on yourself and know that what you decide is what's best for you and your chickens.😘
