I was intrigued by the huge Brahma I saw a photo of and wanted to know more about it. Then I saw a posting of someone having chicks for sale this Spring, and I want to know more and possible purchase a few. I am currently working on a coop and yard for the additions to my home. I have been doing the research and decided I wanted all organic and already growing plants my new flock will love....

G'Day from down under Atlantis80 :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. These two may be of particular interest:
Topic of the Week - Getting Started, Keeping Chickens
Topic of the Week - Keeping the Flock Safe from Predators

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

I have a hunch you have seen a video of huge Brahma slowly extricating himself from a tiny pop door on the coop. Everything is done to change the scale and make him look so much bigger. Kinda like a fun house mirror.

A bird that huge would probably be too clumsy to breed hens and also overwork his organs trying to support him.

Real Brahmas are large(not Gigantic) generally slow to mature and even tempered They also come in Bantam size (small) so anyone can enjoy them.
