I called the El Paso Child Crisis Center today and asked if I could drop off the Kid's Club donations there and they were so thrilled to have them. Then she asked if I would be willing to give a class on beginning crochet to some of the people there right now, including the supervisor I talked to. She is 65 and never learned to crochet and she said it's a dying art, and wouldn't it be great if they could start a club there so they could make blankets and goodies too! Then I told her that the kids were going to learn to quilt and we would try and make some to donate, and she said a group from a church had said they would come do some quilting but had never shown up. I told her I didn't know how yet but I was learning,, so maybe later I can go help out with that too. I told her I'm a beginner all the way around, but I would be happy to volunteer some time there while I'm off. They were just so excited to get our stuff, the kids are going to love this!

They want to make a quilt on the wall with the first names of all the children who go through there so I suggested fabric paint or markers and 3x3 or 4x4 inch squares that could just be added as the go. Not like a blanket with batting but just the squares added with each child.

I can ask about the hand prints, she just said first names. I have some fabric markers if I can get into my class to get them,, they might have some though. Acre of Blessings showed me the American Chain blocks on Quilterscache and I just tried to make one, it's crooked but neat and has a place in the middle made for signing. I'm really looking forward to going on Friday, I'm also going to have to really sit on myself and not volunteer for anything more than I already have,,, I know me just too well,,,
