My daughter calls from the feed store, a new order of chicks just came in. RIR's, Black & Red Sex links in this order, she said they were going like hotcakes. Seeing as my broody bombed out I have been having withdrawels because I really was counting on her not only for the chicks but to do all the work.
Well guess what, I have the brooder all set up in the garage and she is coming home with 6 chicks, 4 RIR's and 2 Black sex links. I have a bunch of red sex links already and only 2 black chickens.
My farrier was just here and I was telling him and he asked my how many chickens I had. I told him I really did not know that I would have to do a count because I lost track.
I am so addicted.

Youre on your way,but don't even talk until you have: about 42 grown chickens,11,3 month old chicks,9 ,2 month old chicks,6 ,1 month old chicks, 13 week old chicks, a broody hen scheduled to hatch out this Sunday, a broody hen just set,2 more hens,wanting eggs and 49 eggs in a bater on day 5. What is sad is to some people-that is nothing,bless them,lol.

I tried to order chicks from mm last month and they were backordered to almost July. We ended up ordering from My Pet Chicken because they were supposed to come sooner. Just found out they won't be here until the middle of June

I have been checking our local farm stores every week, and no one has any chics! Is there a shortage?? Or did I just order at the worst time??

Geeeez Shannon, no chicks! Spring is a very busy time and I am not sure where my feed store gets them from, I want to say PA.
This is like their forth order already and they fly right out of there. Did the feed stores say they were going to order any or are they done?
Anyway my 6 little additions are here and I forgot how tiny they can be! I thought I was done being a broody but here we go again.

Probably a little of both... I will keep checking with the local guys but they are all saying first week in June at the earliest and probably the second...
