I know this may sound weird and a little out there, but I always find BYC is the place to ask when it comes to chickens. Four days ago my 20 week old pullet was attacked by a dog in my backyard. Agnus was completely in shock and her comb and wattles turned a purple gray. I rushed her into town to a vet scared she would not make it. He is not a chicken vet and since there is not one for over 250 miles I would not let him refuse seeing her. He thoroughly inspected her and found large amounts of feathers gone and a puncture wound in her rear between her thigh and vent. He cleaned her up, used liquid bandage for her wounds, and give her a shot of antibiotics. Her color has returned, I am feeding here starter/grower, a little scrambled eggs, and baby vitamins in her water. She is eating, drinking, and her poop is no longer watery. I have been hearing a sound coming from her that sounds like a gurgling belly/sucking air/wheezing. More on the gurgling belly sound. I though she was wheezing at first, but it does not seem to go with her breathing. Has anyone had this experience or have any words of wisdom?
