I found an ad on Craigslist (I'm a CL addict!) that had apparently just been posted. Someone is moving and had 13 hens (9 mos-1 yr old) and a roo. They were ridiculously cheap. I called, and the people are moving to the city. It was a young couple, and They got them as chicks last year.
I ended up taking them all!
They were all ones I had or had had before the dog incident. I am so excited, and so are the kids!
Here is what they had:
1 EE roo - Red and really nice. Takes good care of his girls.
2 EE hens - 1 has crossbeak pretty bad, but she functions well. One is the hawk-like red one, and the other looks almost solid red.
2 Barred Rock hens
2 Rhode Island Reds
2 Gold Stars or Cinnamon Queens
1 brown leghorn
1 unknown...as soon as I saw it, I asked if they had one laying really dark eggs...they did! It was a Wellsummer!!!
Now, I will have 3 EE roos, 2 EE hens, 1 BR roo, 2 BR hens, 2 RIR hens, 3 Gold Stars, 1 leghorn, 1 BO, and a trio of Wellies!
I'll have to post some pics tomorrow! Everyone is put to bed, and settling in nicely.
They also threw in 2 hanging metal feeders and 1/2 a bag of feed. Everyone looked healthy and happy! Nice calm birds.
Just had to share my news!
