I just had to share this. I normally keep my babies in the front yard brooder until 7pm then bring them inside for the night. Our temp outside was 81 but we had major storms moving in quickly at 5pm so I brought the babies in. Well they knew it wasn't bedtime and were pretty restless and fiesty in the brooder on my desk. I was sitting here talking on the phone with my best friend and heard two little thumps...turned to look at the brooder and there was Bleenie and Willow perched on the edge of the brooder box just looking at me LOL They tickle the stuffing out of me! I gave them a swim/play time in the bath tub and a snuggle in a big fluffy towel and they settled right down. I had forgotten what excellent jumpers Scovies were! I wish I'd had my camera beside me, but I had to move fast cause the brooder sits on my desk and is about 3.5 feet off the ground, didn't want my babies to fall and get hurt. I've put the wire lid on the brooder and I guess it's time to move them to the dog crate on the porch for night time...but I'll start that tomorrow or the next night, or maybe in a few nights...dang I hate moving them out of the house, I'm going to miss having them right here by my side :-( I set up a larger outdoor baby pen for them today that they'll be spending the days in starting tomorrow. I love my Scovies :-)

LOL..... You have a scovy called Bleenie too - my 4 week old little one is also named after the wonderful member here on BYC. They sure will let you know when they want company- mine recently both jumped out of the brooder- I heard a noise and looked up to see to little rascals wondering out of the spare room. Lucky they are so cute- ...and didnt poop on the carpet.

You are so right Bleenie! She jumped up on the edge first thing this morning and when my hand got close enough she jumped into it..she's a real snuggle-butt and loves to lay on my chest. When they have swim time she likes to hop up on my hand and jump into the tub over and over and over LOL

Just had to say I am so very, very happy for you with your babies - I have a gosling here (it was the only one that hatched successfully from 15 eggs) it thinks I am it's Mum (Mom) and today it has followed me everywhere until it was exhausted... I am trying to get it to stay with my geese ( well, one particular goose ) BUT this gosling sees only me - I think I may call it Shadow after my last faithful German Shepherd Dog...

Scovie's are so very wonderful - I have one sat on a nest with 5 runner eggs under her - she has covered a huge area with her down - I can only hope that she manages to hatch them all - she deserves it for her resolve - I am going to call one of then Scooter! Hey.... Scooter... we are still waiting here for you.. we will never give up waiting for your return... hurry home - Mom has some news for you and your new babies!!!

Awww bless your heart Suzie!!! How sweet that you're going to name one of your Babies Scooter!!! I still find myself looking in all the ponds we pass through out the week to see if she's on one of them.

Congratulations on your Gosling.....aren't they precious when they think you're their Mamma? I couldn't believe how these scovie babies took to me considering they had been with their actual duck Mamma for their first week. They hear my voice or see me walk by the brooder and they've got their faces against the brooder calling to me ...sure makes my heart smile big time !!

I love the name Shadow, I had an Akita years ago that I named Shadow :-)

I'm sure your Scovie Gal will do just fine hatching those babies and hope you'll share photos when they hatch.
