i have 15 golden comets they wont be laying for a few more months but i was just wondering what to expect in them to lay i mean what number of eegs they would lay on avg. a day and i am going to get a few barred rock chicks here soon also and thinking about going to a buddys dads house and buying a few that are already lasying would that bo ok to di if i have the chicks in the same coop as the bigger birds jw any help would help alot well thanks

It takes about 27 hours for an egg to develop, so you can expect about 15 eggs a day when they are hitting their stride. That number will go up and down depending on season, weather, etc.

That breed will probably lay 6 eggs per week, occasionally 7 eggs, so I'd say 13-15 eggs a day during the peak months. Of course winter time, molting, etc. will cause temporary drops. I'd hold off putting full grown birds in with your chicks until the chicks are at least 3 months old so that they have good size on them. I'd be concerned of the older, bigger birds picking on/attacking the smaller, younger ones.

thats cool i was just going to see about some bigger chickens but its cool i can split the coop i got if that would help. an is that a good amount of eggs or not i am jk
