I brought home a sick baby.

My cuckoo Maran is sneezing very frequently and doing the yawning thing.

Luckily, I've been through this, but with older chicks last year when my SS knocked the waterer over night and got wet.

I've been treating with vitamins and probios. It seem to bring the sneezing down, it took a few days. Now one of the other chicks is yawning a lot, but not sneezing yet.

I put the probios in wet mash and give a drop of poly vi sol vitamins without iron down the beak twice a day. Morning and night. This is what saved my chicks last year.

My SS was so sick she could not stand. The vitamins is what saved her. It was the most stressful time, I did not want to lose her. I also gave her antibiotics, which I'm not doing this time around.

I've seen the chicks come straight from the factory sick last year when picking out a flock for my neighbor. They opened the new shipment and there were sick chicks in there. Perhaps they were over crowded in shipment or at the factory.

I hope they all make it. I love the new three I brought home this year.

I can't take it losing them, I'm treating the flock with a small amount of antibiotics. I can't believe the bond I have for them just after a 6 days.

I hope they get better soon! I'm not sure anymore what to do with my Mumble. The others got over the cold they had but Nugget still is shaking her head. I hear a sneeze maybe once or twice a day but no discharge. You think she still has a cold?

I heard they don't get colds. Sneezing here and there is completely normal, especially after they drink water.

My Maran is sneezing every few minutes, but no discharge from her nose. I'm not sure why they shake their heads. My flock last year did that. Eventually they grew out of it.

If yours are sneezing often, I'd say it's a respiratory infection.

Is once or twice a day often? I read that I would hear a gurgling if they had an infection but I don't hear any of that and Mumble acts totally normal.

I hear gurgling in my Maran's nose. I give one vitamin drop twice a day in her beak. It's water soluble, so you can't overdose.

I use amoxicillian just once a day with probios in their wet mash. I sprinkled just a tiny bit of the capsule that I buy from entirely pets. I will do this for 7 days. I'm treating the entire flock, so I don't lose any. I've not lost a chick yet, thankfully.

The vitamins are without iron bought at a local grocery store. I keep everything on hand just in case. I even have cocci medicine incase of an emergency. I clean my brooder about 100xs a day.lol. I clean and wash their waterer daily.

Sneezing once or twice a day is completely normal. It could be dust or water in their nose.

Aaahhh it has been very dusty. I'm having to vacuum and dust once a day since I got them, especially since getting their mash food. Thanks! Hubby says I worry too much but I can't help it, they are my babies. LOL

Oh my, I worry too. It's so stressful having these babies. It's better once they've moved into to their coop the 2nd or third night.

Last year I was tempted to spend the night in the coop just to make sure they were alright.lol. I kept checking on them with a flashlight.lol

This year will be different, I'll have to integrate these three to my other 8. I only wanted two more, but thought the integration process would be better with 3.
