I have to agree, I used to think I was the only one. It seems pretty universal to talk to your eggs. I've even discussed reasoning as to why they should hatch for me. lol

I'm with @sourland. Picking up an egg in the midst of hatching is a no-no. Unless you are in a rainforest during a rain storm.
A hen doesn't do it. She keeps them tucked neatly under her and holding that humidity in.

I only do it after internal pip but before external pip, and I do it the bathroom after my shower because it's all hot and steamy in there.

I can picture people who do so will be posting about a shrink wrapped chick asking what to do.
The big hatcheries with hundreds of thousands of chicks hatching at the same time don't pick up individual eggs and talk to them even though their hatching rooms are kept at the proper humidity for all the eggs.

I just assumed she meant a "hatching egg" as in an egg meant for hatching and not eating. I mean, I talk to them while they're actually hatching too, just through the plastic. lol
