Hi everyone! I'm back after a looooong time
Anyways, I'm incubating some wyandotte eggs (shipped) and they are on day 5/6. Yesterday I was candling and could easily see that some were developing and healthy and then there were a few they I was unsure about. I'm very knowledgeable and experienced on candling, and I could clearly see on the iffy ones that the embryo freely moved as I moved the egg, they were shadowing, and had no veining. So today I recandled and was still confident that these two specific eggs should be disposed of. I always crack my eggs when disposing of them cuz 1) it's interesting, and 2) it's good to know what's going on. The first one I cracked was obviously dead. Very small embryo compared to the ones I candled, very light in color and no blood in the veins. The yolk was also cloudy and runny. But the second one I cracked looked appropriately sized (the embryo) and HAD VEINS. Not like the thick veins you see near the air cell later in incubation but a network of veins nonetheless. However it wasn't moving and there was not visible heartbeat. Did I kill a living embryo??
