Hi , I am new here and love these forum's ☺️
I just hatched out my first coturnix quail ! I decided to do some button quail as well and They came shipped . This time i waited the full 24 hours to put them in the bater this morning. I have read many articles but they are so mixed with lockdown times , not sure if its the 13th or 14th day ?
Also i have 6 celadon the seller sent with them and i put them in together.
I hope it Doesn't mess the hatch rate up. Any tips will be greatly appreciated
♥️

I usually only hatch gamebirds, but I do know that button quail can be a complicated breed where some may hatch early and some may hatch late. I would say go into lockdown on day 13 and increase humidity to 55 percent during lockdown. Keep temp at 99.5 degrees if using forced air incubator like the nurture right 360.

@007Sean do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for the feedback, I'm going to lockdown on day 13 . Do you know if incubation will affect the celadon i have in with them? They both went in togethr early this morning. Lockdown times are 2 days off from each breed but really all i can do now is go with it and see what happens.

In that case if there is a 2 day difference I am assuming that the button quail go into lockdown on day 13 and and the celadon go into lockdown on day 15. if this is the case then go into lockdown on day 14 instead of 13 as it gives a better chance for the celadon eggs to hatch. I would recommend after going into lockdown on day 14 that you turn the celadon eggs 3 times on day 14 so you get them ready to hatch. Be sure to not keep the incubator open to long as it might shrink wrap the eggs. Keep us updated on your journey and feel free to ask any questions!

Shrink wrapping will only occur if the chick has externally pipped or is zipping!...and there is not enough moisture in the air inside the bator.

I'd 'lockdown' on day 14 but if you don't it 's not going to hurt anything by locking down on day 13.
