I did something nice last nite.

Well been having a possum problem in my feed room...thankfully not in the chickens yet..Went out to the feed room last nite and low and behold there sat a possum eating my cats food. Got to looking around and found another behind some stuff. Went in the house and got my son to come shoot them and he couldnt do it. Also the feed room is made of cinder blocks and didnt want to take a chance of it ricocheting around if by chance he missed. He went and got the live trap and caught them and took them about 6 or 7 miles down the road . I cant believe there was a set of them in there I knew it was 1 but imagine my sureprise when it was 2...So I guess mr and mrs possum will have a cold Christmas out in the woods.

They were just looking for the easy to get meal, they weren't really after your chickens.

Possums come up on our porch to eat cat food, and they've never bothered my chickens.

I think you did a good thing by not killing them.

I'm glad you rehomed them. I hope 6 or 7 miles is far enough away. They travel plenty.
I remember my great-grandmother telling me stories

of being woke up in the middle of the night and finging a possum climbing her chicken coop and she'd knock it over the head with a hammer!

Six or seven miles is not enough. If you don't take them at least twenty they will be back.

Possums go after eggs and young chicks under broodies...
