so i just received my new babies yesterday in time for mother's day.
can not imagine that i would be this crazy about them.
just afraid of what will happen if we play with them and hold them too much -
any idea of limits on fondling (now) 2-3 day old baby chicks?
polish and cochins...

from washington state glad you joined us!

The main concern is keeping them warm enough but holding them really helps them bond with you just don't over do it. Give them plenty of rest time they love to sleep a lot!

thanks!

its tempting to just snuggle with them.
i wanted to make sure we couldn't fondle them into failure to thrive ..

my australian shepard peers over the top of the brooder and counts them. its hysterical.
i only let her near when we can supervise. can't wait to watch her herd 30 chickens!
(i know, most people would have started with fewer, but they were so cute..)

I wouldn't over do the handling. I have lost lots of chicks from handling them too much. It's fine to pick them up and hold them for a short while.

Enjoy your baby's and good luck!
