I don't know what this is?

@CSAchook I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this about Buttercup.

I have never seen that before either. But...I will play with a thought here. I could be wrong. Yes, I do agree it looks like big meat spot. I wonder if the contents is a cancerous ovum (egg yolk) that is being dropped and it's being laid. @casportpony had a hen with this cancer (Cystadenocarcinomas) I wonder if she ever had something like that in her eggs or could tell us what those ovum felt like?

And im very sorry for your loss

Thank you both for the condolences :hugs:hugs:hugs

I think you are very likely correct. I described it as like a meat spot because it was red and flashy in appearance, just like the OP’s picture. And I could not think of anything else to compare it to. It also had a sort of cord bit coming out of the end of the shell. Again, just like the OP’s picture. But what I neglected to mention was that the vet that looked at it thought it had some characteristics of an egg yolk, although she was not 100 percent certain. It was certainly a sign of a serious reproductive problem in Buttercup’s case. But she had a good life for the two years we had her.
I don't know if a cancerous ovum is "semi-solid" or not, that's why I asked Kathy to chime in to see if she had felt any of those. I do agree with you. Your photo and the OP's both look "meaty" or like a big meat spot. Her's somewhat reminds me of raw liver.
