Ever since I became a chicken mama I have had people giving me advice. Unwarrented advice. From people who do not own chickens. Its gotten worse since I became a dog mama. Everyone has advice that, while it is kind that they are concerned, does not apply to the situation. Why do you keep her on the leash at all times? You should give her a break. Shes kept on the leash because she is a rescue and we need to be able to grab her if she chases the cat or the chickens. Last time she was off leash she chased a squirrel 2 houses down. I dont know how to say nicely we dont want your advice on the matter or we dont need your advice. Its really bothering me . Is it gonna get worse when I have children? The way I feel about it is: you dont tell someone how to raise their kids. Dont tell me how to raise mine. So on that note; how have you personally dealt with the problem of people giving you unwarranted/ignorant advice?

It will 100% be worse when you have kids. I haven’t had much advice given, because I have ducks and no one around here has them. So I can’t really help you much there.

Actually the only problem I had with my baby son was, everyone would comment that it was terrible to waste red hair on a boy. No wonder he hated his hair. He waited till college to shave it off.

Maybe you could just say "If I need any advice, I will let you know." and walk off.

PS I also used to breed & show Cockers. NO ONE gave me unsolicited advice. Practice the stink eye in a mirror and you too can stop them.

Waste red hair on a boy? What does that even mean? I dont think people even realize sometimes how hurtful comments like that I can be. My grandma always says "you've gotten fat". I now know its actually a loving remark like "i haven't seen you in so long" but as a child it made me very self concious as i never looked like those pretty women in the magazines

How does one use a wrench wrong? If it gets the job done who cares? I've been told I use the saw wrong. But the way I feel about it is if you think you can do it better than by all means. I'll get it done at my pace

Just mansplaining. Not to start a debate. But that was all it was. You know, because men are the only ones who can use a tool

If someone is hurrying me I like to tell them: “I have 2 speeds, if you don’t like this one, you’re going to hate the other one.”

For general unwanted advice just say: “Thanks, I usually like to make my own mistakes, but I’ll try screwing it up your way and see what happens.”

Push back with a little humor and a smile, and most people will get the point...

If you’re getting too much unwanted advice, you might just be too nice

I think we train people how to treat us, if we allow them to treat us in a way we don’t like, we’re telling them it’s okay... if we push back a little most people get the point.

Yes it will get worse when you have kids.
People may mean well but really don't know the situation.
I would go with a simple thanks for the advice or an I'll keep that in mind. As to the dog being on leash.... "She is in training."

Honestly the fat shaming is just plain rude, disrespectful or even deliberately hurtful.
Seriously.
At my age I tend to call people on the carpet about that stuff.
There is NO excuse for it.
