We've just adopted 4 turkeys (2 pair) from a friend who had to sell his flock. TomOne loves to have his head scratched and bumps your leg for attention.
TomTwo has decided I am a source of food and treats, so this weekend no more sneak attacks from behind....he's behaving very well now. The two toms strut circles around me and about every third lap, stop for a treat.
Now to the hens...today while letting them free-range, I was sitting on the ground and one of the hens walks up into my arms to snuggle; then lays her head in the crook of my neck and goes to sleep.
When she woke up, she fluffed herself up like a tom and started walking circles around me, just like the toms do when I'm giving them treats. My only guess is that she's 'claimed' me as her hen. I don't speak turkey....what's she saying?
