Okay, So my cuckoo rooster mounted a "hen". The roo seemed to have done the job. It's been a few weeks and now that "hen" look very much like a rooster. The "hen" is supposed to be an americana but doesn't look anything like the americanas I've seen online. "she" has the beard and greenish black leggs. Anyway, my question is... Could my real rooster have been mistaken when he did the deed with the "hen"? They are just over 5 months old and the "hen" is Just now starting to get a long tail with greens and blue hughes in it. Roosters? Americanas?

This is not the one that was mounted but this is my other americana? that is looking rooish

This is the same one. "she" is about 16 weeks old

Here is the 20+ week old that was taken advantage of by the Roo.

again....

One last time....

So you mean your rooster is happy? Tell me more...

Mounting is done as a dominance thing also just like in dogs. Sounds like your black chicken is an easter egger. I'm sure we will be able to tell if it is a hen or roo when you post pics.

Both chickens are easter eggers (commonly sold by the feed stores & hatcheries as ameraucanas or araucanas).

The 16 week old is a roo - I'm not 100% sure on your 20 week old, but I'm going to guess pullet.

This is Cleopatra (pullet) at 19 weeks (has the green tailfeathers):

These are two of my easter egger pullets at 22-23 weeks of age (for comparison):

Thanks for your response. Your girls are beautiful. They look just like mine. I thought they might have been EE and not Americanas.

Anybody else have a guess as to what gender my 20+ week old is??
She likes to hang out with my maran rooster. The little EE is trying to boss around the maran roo, so I really think she's a he. But verdict is still out on the older "girl".

I think the 20wk one is a roo. In the last picture posted, it appears to have saddle feathers and its tail looks rooish in all the pictures.

Still not sure about the 22 weeker! Anybody else care to take a guess? my younger one started looking like a roo around the same time as the older one. Why would the 22 weeker take so long to look rooish? I'm really hoping it's a pullet. I want to keep my cuckoo maran roo. I can only keep one roo.
