Well, I have to go through that gate to open the chicken coop and let them out anyway. They have a large walk-in coop. The big problem was that I had a bunch of jugs that were empty from ice and water and needed to take them out. I was going to fill them up but didn't have the time. It's been SO hot out here the past week, in the 100s!, that I've been putting frozen jugs out there into a footbath to help keep them cool during the day.
There are 2 locks on the gate and I haven't ever forgotten to lock them before. I think that not having had my caffeine that morning might have played a part also
