Wow, I would have never
excepted today. But my welsummer cross went broody for the
second time in her life (1 year). She was a pretty good mama last time she hatched
chicks. I'm pretty excited even know I already have 18 chicks in my brooder. Tomorrow I'm going to call my neighbor and ask to buy a dozen of eggs fresh out of his coop. He's got red sex links. Hopefully I'll have the eggs Wednesday night.

Cool! Broodies are fun! They do all the work and we get to sit back and watch in amazement.

My mothers friend has RIRS and almost half went broody! It's contagous I tell ya. So since my australorp is known for going broody on me, I'll have to hide my broody so she doesn't share her "diease" lol.

I'm planning on not even touching her eggs once. I want her to do "ALL" the work. I'm not going to candle or nothing. The only thing I'm going to do is let her out to poop, eat, drink.

I had chickens for 18 years or so before I had a broody- next thing you know, I had seven. Yep, it's contagious.

Is that why when one chicken went broody her half-sister was broody a few days later? It's contagious?

Well, it certainly is a powerful part of chicken math!! Who can resist all these broodies!!

Yay for broodies! My girls is due to start hatching TONIGHT!!! I'm so excited!

My little Jap has been playing at being broody, I'd find her with the whole days's clutch (4-6 eggs) poking out from under her, but every time I'd just shoo her off her nest and she'd strut off. Last night it was like she had grown lead in her posterior. She would NOT move. We'd pick her up and PLUMP back down she'd go. It was hysterical. I was thinking "NOW I see what they mean by 'going broody' she is GONE" So I slipped a couple eggs back under her and called it a night.
