I got a free food score from the produce section!

I went into a grocery store today to pick up some cookies for a meeting, and saw the grocery clerk throwing bruised apples into boxes. I asked him what they did with them when they couldn't be sold, and he said "If the food pantry doesn't come to get donations that day, we throw them out. Why? Would you like them?"

I got 30 lbs of free apples!!!

My chickens are having a heyday right now.

Wow! Good for you! Most grocery stores have stopped giving away discards (I guess due to lawsuit possibilities???).
