I GOT A HEN! I GOT A HEN, A HEN, A HEN! I'm so excited I giggled like a school girl! OMG... it's brown, either Buffy or Gingers.. My guess is Buffy. OMG!!!! WEEEEEE!!!!!


Exactly 17 wks ago we got them. Tuesday, April 10th!

Aren't they hens once they lay? No longer Pullets? So she's a hen, right? Either way.. I'm so freakin' excited!

You are correct, Shes no longer a pullet. I remember getting my first egg also, I was chuffed to pieces for about a week and couldnt wait to get home to cook it! Congratulations on the egg, If they're all the same age your going to be seeing a lot more of them!

I was SURE a white leghorn would go first! She's so ready.. any day now. So when I saw a brown one, wow... Oh, and Ginger did a full on squat in front of my son when he walked up behind her... so it could have been her. Both of them are ready. Ginger was injured a few wks ago, but squating and Buffy has bigger comb and waddle.. so really.. it doesn't matter... I'd say 4 to 5 out of the six are ready to go

Yeah! Congrats.... did you post a pix of it? Did you eat it? My husband said we should have ours bronzed lol. He's been on my butt about how much the feed cost and NO eggs! I just switched them to layer middle of last week

Oooo mine too! Last week we got two first eggs on the same day from my girls Bea and Leila, now he's the one going out and checking the nest boxes.
